I do not binge shows. It’s not my thing anymore, it hurts my prefrontal cortex when the television is on too long, I just can’t do it.
Unless… properly motivated by a short, eight episode season, that implies that the gods most revered have been self serving pharisees who subjugate the human race through fear in order to maintain their immortal status.
With that being said, have you seen Kaos on Netflix??

Overall, we are looking at the story of how Zeus falls from power and his efforts in fighting the prophecy foretold. We have key players from Olympus, Krete, and the Underworld.
Between Olympus and the Underworld the family focus is on Dionysus, Persephone, Hades, Poseidon, Hera, Zeus; each of these worlds also offers us Medusa, Prometheus, and Caeneus.
In Krete we have our “chosen ones” that assist in the prophecy; Ari (aka: Ariadne), Riddy (aka: Eurydice), the Tacita (worshipers and sworn secret keepers of Hera), Minos, Orpheus, the Fates, and Cassandra.
Without giving any spoilers, this is what I love about the show… it has an aristocracy undertone with how the gods view themselves, the favor they believe they deserve for holding power, and how they view not only the humans, but also those with “lesser” rank in their godly status. It provides insight into this perspective that I do not understand, how and why those in power believe they are above all that is in the life we know.
Even when I was little, I never understood why those who were bigger than me felt entitled to control me or navigate my gifts towards their own comfort or interests. I never understood why I lived in a world or a family that pushed me to stay quiet, keep my head down, and just go to work – which I hated because my charming personality was making these companies BIG money while I got paid the minimum. There was never a moment where I was believed to be an equal until I started taking control over my own life, my own fate, my own perspective.
These eight episodes, while wildly entertaining, delivered well thought out messages and creative prompts as to what power we as humans actually have over divinity and fate. When watched through a critical thinking lens, one will start to wonder on the words of the Fates and gods we have all grown up to revere in some form or another, you will begin to question the stories we were told to be true, the constructs our lives our built around, the divisions we cause ourselves, how impactful distractions are, and how strong of a force belief is.
Here’s hoping my belief is strong enough that a season two will occur simply because I want to know what happens next!
